A referendum on the Wraxall and Failand Neighbourhood Plan was held on Thursday 19 September 2024.

Votes in favour: 610 (96%)

Votes against: 25 (4%)

Total votes cast: 636 (one spoiled paper)

Overall turnout: 32%

The plan will not determine whether the fields around Failand get built on or not - that would be determined by the new NSC Local Plan which is currently on hold due to the change of government.

Having a Neighbourhood Plan just means the Parish Council will have some say in the details of any development and they get a kickback of thousands of pounds for each new house built.

That probably makes it worth having but the Parish Council have downplayed their financial motivation and exaggerated the control it will give.

The fields opposite Weston Road are in Long Ashton parish so any development there would not be affected by this plan.
