North Somerset Council have produced an interactive map of land assessed in the Call for Sites:
Pan and zoom the map, then click on an orange area to see the assessment. Ashton Hill Farm was the only submission near Failand and was assessed as "Unsuitable 2B", the category of sites that are "incompatible with the existing spatial strategy such as non previously developed Green Belt or countryside locations". Check Green Belt in the left panel to see its extent which includes the whole of our Parish.
The sites assessed to have Potential are those outside the Green Belt and adjacent to existing settlements such as West of Nailsea and Backwell and around Yatton and Congresbury. There have been numerous articles in the North Somerset Times about applications to build on these sites.
The only new submission in the 2015 Call for Sites in our parish is land south of the main road in Wraxall, a submission for the Trustee land opposite Flax Bourton Road was made after the deadline.
